Hai guys, i am planning to take associate degree in science. i will get assoicate degree in december or in this semester. but the thing is that according to my major, if i take associate degree then i have to study 7 xtra credit hours, which will not be transfer to university. i am planning to study medical technology and planning to transfer to uta@ arlington next spring semester 2009. so i have to take calculus 2 and sociology to take associate degree but that will not be transfered and i think i will be wasting my time and my money for this. how beneficail is to take associate degree and what are the advantages and disadvantages. i am in big dileema. i ahve already completed my 54 credit hours and all will be transfering. according to hcc, i have to study 6 credit hours in social and behaviour sciences, which i only need 3 credit in uta and i have already economics in this fieldand other math which i need 6 credit but i have already college algebra and calculus 1 which is already sufficient but to have associate i have to take calculus 2 ans sociology xtra. so , pleas guys any suggestion appreciated. thanks in advance.

I think it depends on your own priority. How soon you want to graduate from the university and sell urself in job market rather than taking one step break. I am trying my best to feel the level of ur dilemma but to be honest associate degree will not take you anywhere and dont even consider it as an achievement looking at the job market and terrible US economy. If you want to relax and take few deep breath thinking you have crossed a big hurdle with this associate degree.. then it will further lengthen the period before you achieve your final goals.. Peace!

anyone has take associate degree, who gets some benefits somewhere other than applying for opt and working. i heard that if u take associate degree, then u don;t need to take any university core when u transfered to other university. and if u gets only 3 gpa but u have associate degree it will help u to get scholarship as having 3.25. hey guys somebody has any idea.
